Haven't sewed in 15 years . . . no problem!

There is a trend going round (in our ward in particular) and it is all about wearing your baby as an accessory. Heaven forbid they be put down and learn to entertain themselves. People have Maya wraps, slings, moby wraps and all other kinds of wrap systems so your child can hang at your hip and make your back tired and still get in your way.

Having said this - I made one today. A friend of mine with a sewing machine showed me how. I haven't sewed since I was about 15 years old, but it was really an easy pattern. I had some cute pink corduroy material and decided to join the trend. I am not a big fan as I mentioned of always holding my kids, but I thought this would be a good solution to Vivian terrorizing the primary room while I am trying to do Sharing Time. So here is my creation. Not a great shot, kind of hard with her eating the camera.

That's awesome, Kells. I love it! I have never been able to keep my kids in one. Maybe when we have another kid.

i got a cool sling as a gift and I have no idea how to work it cos i am worried i will drop the baby! and it seems it would be the way your explained- sort of in the way (?) but I need to try it out in case it works plus since it's cool.... ;-)

p.s. nice job making something new AND useful! I want to make curtains this year and have also not touched a sewing machine in 15+ yrs.

Hey Kelly!! This is Jenn Bryant! It was so great to see you on our blog commenting! Now I had thought you were going to BYU? Guess not. Maryland, how exciting, do you love it there? We ended up in Florida! Can't beat it, although we miss the season changes.
Your kids are adorable and this is the first time I have seen Vivian! She is sooooo cute! And Sam is so big. Crazy to see how everyone has changed since our days in the garden heights ward. Still the best ward we have been in! I love your blog and love seeing all the pictures! Love you guys! Jenn, Seth, Link and Ella

As a former Kensingtonite and follower of the crowd (maya and moby), I'm totally impressed. where did you get the pattern?
