Inaguration Weekend!

Brian and I had an incredible experience at Tuesday's Inaguration. It was better than expected in terms of getting in and out on Metro. We caught the first trains we waited for (coming and going) and had no problems getting there.

Our tickets were seated and right below the Capitol. We could see the podium from where we were seated and could hear the thousands of people behind us. We felt so lucky to be part of this and watch President Obama get sworn in. There was a great feeling of celebration among the crowds and black and white, old and young were happy for the occasion.

Below are some of our pictures. The parade line up, our friend Gabe ice-skating on the reflecting pool in by the Capitol, the Washington Monument, close-up of the podium while Biden was being sworn in, (If you click on this one to enlarge it, you can see Biden raising his arm to the square.) the Capitol, a very COLD Kelly waiting in line for security and some live video of the day.

What an exciting experience to witness the swearing in of a President. We felt the thrill of it all the way over here through the TV. How neat to actually be there.

I enjoyed my warm and cozy seat here at home but we're thrilled that you much younger and hardier kids got to enjoy the big event for real. What a memory!

What an historic occasion! We watched at home on the tv and thought of you in the crowds. When Obama was sworn in we threw balloons up in the air and chanted "obama, obama!"

Yo Kelly and Brian! I am so jealous! What a priceless experience you have had--one to recount to your grandchildren and great-grandchildren someday. I appreciated your solidarity during the campaign as well.

Just think, if Obama serves eight years Lizzie will be in Young Women and Sammy will be in Young Men! Obama will be the first president they remember and one to shape the next generation.

And that's what makes me twice as glad that he helps break beyond the battles of yesterday's generation. Thank goodness!

Wishing you the best!
